This fan blade bolts to the viscous hub at the front of your engine, directly behind the radiator. Its job is to pull air through the radiator fins to cool your engine, especially at low speeds. Being made of plastic and constantly exposed to engine bay heat and stress, the blades can become brittle and crack. A failing fan blade will cause a severe vibration that can quickly destroy the viscous hub bearing, water pump, and even the radiator core. If a blade breaks off entirely, it can puncture the radiator or damage other components under the bonnet, leading to rapid coolant loss and catastrophic engine failure.
