This is the brake master cylinder, and it's bolted to the brake booster in the engine bay on the driver's side of your vehicle. It’s the core component that gets your Navara or Pathfinder to pull up when you hit the anchors.
If your brake pedal feels spongy, soft, or sinks to the floor when you hold it down, chances are the seals inside your master cylinder have had it. This means brake fluid is bypassing the seals instead of pushing the pistons in your calipers, which seriously reduces your stopping power. You might also spot fluid leaking where the master cylinder meets the booster. Don't muck around with dodgy brakes; it's a critical safety issue.
As all these cylinders have an aluminum bore, we have found by this time they have worn beyond repair, and it is most efficient to replace the whole cylinder.
NOTE: DOESNT SUIT R51 PATHDFINDER MODELS WITH STABILITY CONTROL.
