This set of 15 rubber washers is designed to seal the bolts that secure the rocker cover (or valve cover) to the top of your engine's cylinder head. Over time, the original washers are exposed to constant heat cycles, causing them to become hard, brittle, and cracked. For a 4x4 owner, ensuring a leak-free engine is critical for reliability. A compromised seal will lead to oil leaks, creating a mess in the engine bay and potentially dripping onto other components.
Ignoring failing rocker cover washers can lead to persistent and worsening oil leaks. This oil can drip onto hot exhaust manifolds, creating a significant fire hazard, especially during low-range off-roading or when driving through dry grass. Leaking oil can also contaminate serpentine belts, causing them to slip or fail prematurely, and lead to a gradual loss of engine oil, which if left unchecked, could result in major engine damage.
