The rocker cover gasket provides a seal between the cylinder head and the rocker cover. Over time, the gasket can deteriorate due to heat, age, and exposure to engine oil. It can become brittle, crack, or lose its elasticity.
A damaged rocker cover gasket will cause oil leak and, can result in poor engine performance creating a vacuum leak and allowing unmetered air to enter the engine.
